Technology and society, studied together
Softora Innovation is a multidisciplinary research and development company. We are interested in how things work, from the circuits inside a small device to the public policies that guide a country.
Real-world questions rarely stay within one field. A question about data can turn into one about markets, and a question about infrastructure often becomes one about planning and policy.
We start from curiosity, and we keep our attention on questions that matter in Nepal. Our aim is to understand each topic well, explain it plainly, and consider where it could be useful.
Our focus areas
We explore six areas. Three are technical, and three concern the economy and society.
Technology
Hardware, security, and intelligent systems.
Microcontrollers and embedded systems
The small computers inside everyday electronics. We explore microcontrollers, hardware programming, connected devices, and practical embedded technologies.
Post-quantum cryptography
Future quantum computers could break some of the encryption in use today. Our interest is in cryptographic approaches intended to keep information protected in the era of quantum computing.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning
Systems that learn from data. We look at intelligent systems, data analysis, and practical uses of AI and machine learning, including their limits.
Economy and society
Markets, planning, and public policy.
NEPSE and market research
Nepal’s stock market, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). We study it through data and analytical methods. This is a research interest only; we do not provide investment advice, recommendations, or trading services.
Urbanization, planning, and development
How towns and cities take shape and change. We explore urban growth, infrastructure, and development planning, along with the challenges and opportunities facing communities in Nepal.
Government policies and public policy
The decisions and rules that shape public life. We study how policies are designed and implemented, and how they relate to technology, planning, and development.
Our approach
Four principles we try to follow, whether a question is technical or social.
Ask clear questions
Begin with a question narrow enough to answer, and be honest about what is not yet known.
Investigate carefully
Read widely, gather evidence, and look at a problem through more than one discipline.
Experiment in small steps
Test ideas at a modest scale, learn from the results, and adjust before going further.
Consider the context
Weigh whether an idea would work in practice, and whether it suits people and conditions in Nepal.
